Behind the Scenes/ Making of

I began my career in 2013 as a cameraperson and on-set interviewer for 'Behind the scenes. Having been a student journalist and columnist for leading newspapers, asking questions was inherent, but the mechanics of filmmaking was an intriguing world. With the keen excitement of a dreamy aspiration, I walked onto the sets of  'Fukrey',

'Dedh Ishqiya', 'Finding Fanny'.

After completing my Masters in Direction and Screenplay from Xaviers, I returned back to BTS, this time to support niche films I truly believed in, both 'Newton' and 'Tumbbad' gave me the opportunity to explore the childlike excitement that makes me want to tell stories, by vicariously experiencing the journey behind the cults of our times.

The writing of the film started with a simple rule - Everything would be logical with no to minimal jump scares. The process of writing continued even through the shooting and editing, as at times, the scenes had to be rewritten just to suit the visuals or the constantly evolving language of the film. With some 60-70 drafts written over a span of 18 years, there’s a story behind almost every dialogue, every scene and even the climax which was quite different from what eventually made it to the film!
